How Play uses your data

Matches, duels and challenges store only what is listed below. Separately, while score sharing is on (Me, Score sharing), every level you play, here too, is shared as an anonymous score timeline with, during this beta, its face points (never an image).

Turn-by-turn matches

Play one friend over 1 to 6 rounds: each round is one level, and you take turns. Share the link; the first person to join plays you. Like challenges, matches are separate from score sharing, and nothing is sent until you create, join or play one.

  • Stored: the match's workout, difficulty, hint level, lock line, scoring version and round count; both players' typed names; and, per turn, whether the level was passed, skipped, not finished or forfeited, the tracked time, the number of retries and when it was played; and when the latest turn was started.
  • Visible to anyone with the link: the names and turns. There is no public list of matches.
  • Never stored: camera images, face data or score timelines.
  • Identity: the same anonymous ID as score sharing and challenges, kept in a cookie, or your account while you are signed in; an account keeps your matches across devices.
  • Kept for 12 months from the match's creation, then deleted with every turn. “Delete my shared data” (Me, Score sharing) also deletes every match you play in, with both players' turns.

Live duels

Play one friend live over 1 to 6 rounds: each round is one level you both play at the same moment, and the first to pass wins it. Share the link; the first person to join plays you. Duels are separate from score sharing, and nothing is sent until you create or join one.

  • Relayed, never stored: during rounds, your hold progress, cue and whether you are tracked and, only with “Show my face outline to my opponent” on (on by default in this test version), your face outline: the lip, cheek and eye-opening points the matcher draws, as coarse numbers, never an image. They go through our server to your opponent only.
  • Stored: the duel's workout, difficulty, hint level, lock line, scoring version and round count; both players' typed names; per round, its level, when it started and ended, the winner and, per player, passed (with the time and the tracked time and retries) or not; and how the duel ended.
  • Visible to anyone with the link: the names, the decided rounds and the result. There is no public list of duels.
  • Never stored: camera images, face outlines, face data, live readings or score timelines.
  • Identity: the same anonymous ID as score sharing, challenges and matches, kept in a cookie, or your account while you are signed in.
  • Kept for 12 months from the duel's creation, then deleted. “Delete my shared data” (Me, Score sharing) also deletes every duel you play in.

Challenges

“Challenge a friend” and “Submit to challenge” at the end of a workout are separate from score sharing and work with it off. Nothing is sent until you tap one of them.

  • Stored: the challenge's workout, difficulty, hint level, lock line and scoring version; for each player, the name they typed and, per level, whether it was passed, skipped or not finished, the tracked time and the number of retries. Only each player's best result is kept.
  • Visible to anyone with the link: the names and results. There is no public list of challenges.
  • Never stored: camera images, face data or score timelines.
  • Identity: creating or submitting uses the same anonymous ID as score sharing, kept in a cookie, or your account while you are signed in.
  • Kept for 12 months from the challenge's creation, then deleted with every result in it. “Delete my shared data” (Me, Score sharing) also deletes the challenges you created, with everyone's results in them, and your results in other challenges.
